Solar power developer Summit Ridge Energy (SRE) has teamed up with Qcells in a landmark deal to purchase 1.2 GW of solar modules, accelerating the growth of clean energy across the United States. The agreement aims to strengthen both companies’ position in the renewable energy market and support domestic manufacturing.

Summit Ridge Energy (SRE) has announced a strategic partnership with Qcells, a leading solar module manufacturer, for the acquisition of 1.2 GW of solar modules. The solar modules will be used in the construction of over 350 solar projects, primarily community solar installations. The first phase of the project will see 200 MW installed by the end of this year. Additionally, the agreement includes the provision of 20 MWh of energy storage capacity.

SRE and Qcells have previously collaborated on energy storage projects in New York City, deploying more than 46 MWh of standalone energy storage facilities that utilize Qcells’ Geli energy management system.

Steve Raeder, CEO of SRE, emphasizes the importance of this partnership in promoting clean energy and supporting the domestic manufacturing industry. He states, “We must continue to find ways to bring affordable electricity to everyday Americans, particularly communities that have historically relied on fossil fuels.”

In a commitment to American manufacturing, Qcells plans to invest $2.5 billion to establish a fully integrated, silicon-based supply chain in the United States, making it the first company to achieve this feat. A majority of the solar panels purchased by SRE will be produced in Qcells’ U.S. manufacturing facilities.
